Last Friday, May 24, 2024, the results of the Blue Flag awards were announced in Kalamata.
The Blue Flag is the most recognized international symbol of environmental quality and is awarded to organized beaches, marinas and tourist boats. Coast, marina or boat managers (municipalities and businesses) must adhere to strict criteria for environmental protection, visitor education, sustainability, safety and accessibility.
For example, managers should ensure the presence of a lifeguard, the presence of a ramp for the disabled, environmental awareness of visitors and frequent sampling and analysis of the waters to ensure that they are suitable for swimming.
We, from the very beginning last year, approached the “Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature” (the Blue Flag management body in Greece) to see how we can comply with their criteria. After a long and pressing effort, within a very short period of time, we managed as a company and as a boat to harmonize with the requirements of the program.
So on Friday, our award came, both the Greek and the international office officially awarded us! We stood out among the huge Greek fleet and became one of the 9 award-winning tourist boats nationwide, one of the three award-winning companies and the only Blue Flag boat in the Athenian Coasts!
We are proud that in addition to the quality of our cruises, we have managed to do so with respect for the environment and people.
On our boat you will find information booklets about the Blue Flag program, historical, environmental and cultural information about our destinations, information about the aquatic fauna of Greece and the area we sail through and samples of the purity of the waters we take you for swimming!
Combined with the Blue Flag, we also participate in the voluntary program of the i-Naturalist platform where we post any encounters we have with rare marine animals. To date we have had three sightings in the Eastern Attica region, with a sea turtle, a seal and a dolphin!
We count within one year of life 2 awards and move on!
